Homeschooling And Its Benefits

Why home school over public education for Vivian and Francis?

To begin with, you don’t need to prod them out of bed in the morning for a long day of school, and then wait anxiously until they come back home. Homeschooling gives you more control over the influences that affect your child. At last you have control over the education and development of your offspring. It is completely up to you to determine the educational needs of your child. One of the most visible benefits of homeschooling is the curriculum which is tailored according to the needs and interests of the child. As an example, Lisa can schedule less time on English lessons if more time on Math is necessary. There is not set amount of time you must spend on any one subject. This gives the student the authority to spend more time on a seemingly difficult area, without any pressure from outside influences. Your child need to spend more higher amount of time to study on each of his/her subject, because this well always depend on the abilities he/she took to study.

The schooling of the child becomes an extended family activity. Guardians participate in all stages of the learning program.

Field trips and experiments are included as family activities. As a consequence, child and parent spend more quality time together. Everyone in the family plays the games, does the chores and works on projects. Family closeness becomes the focus here. The child also doesn’t have the negative peer pressure when choosing what to do and making decisions.

Competition is not as large when children are homeschooled. The child is not unjustly compared with other children and does not need to prove anything to anyone except you as a parent. His outstanding high self esteem insures a great future. Because children are well-understood by their parents, children’s interests can be effectively appealed to with a customized lesson plan. Also it is possible to combine hard tasks with activities that are fun. A hard time with Algebra can be concluded with a local museum trip. Education can become an enjoyable activity. Children can now have studies that suit their style of learning prepared by their own parents. One child may learn a subject by reading about it, another may learn by writing and yet another may benefit from watching a subject in action.

Homeschooling lets parents control their child’s moral and religious learning. Parents have the option to instill their beliefs and ideas into their child’s studies. The old idiom of “practice what you preach” can be applied, because you would be avoiding any hypocrisy over differing standards between the school and home.

Lastly, more and more parents are getting disillusioned with the public school system. It is their feeling that their children are either being pushed too hard or not enough. The school system is often less inviting due to worrisome issues such as discipline and ethics. Grouping children by age is an educational philosophy with which many people disagree. The reason some parents cite for choosing homeschooling for their children is the memory of their own unhappy experiences with public schools.

Homeschooling Homeschooling is the best way to teach a child if you have the time, the ability and the interest to follow through with his education. At the end of the day, you are able to appreciate and understand your child better than anyone else.
